Chemistry Map of Scotland

The Google map below lists all sorts of sites across the country that are releated to Scotland.

There are seven 'layers’ that you can switch on and off:

  1. Birthplaces of Scottish scientists
  2. Death places of the same
  3. Places where they are buried
  4. Houses they lived in
  5. Sites relating to Scotland’s Oil Shale boom.
  6. Other historical industrial sites related to chemistry: mines (but not coal mines), refineries, etc.
  7. Current significant sites relating to the chemical industry - This has been harder: there are dozens of small scale soap and cosmetic manufacturers and I have decided (so far) to leave these out.
