Launch of another new programme with Ocean Winds

SSERC is delighted to announce the new “Learner Research Placement Programme” which will be an integral part of our Scottish STEM Placement Programme (SSPP).

 Funded by our education industry partner, @Ocean Winds UK, this programme will enable learners to undertake summer research placements in organisations across Scotland, building on the hugely successful Research Placement & Experiences programme.

Ocean Winds currently funds the development and delivery of the STEM Leader 7 Award, part of the Young STEM Leader Programme, and combining this Award with the new SSPP programme will offer learners a fantastic opportunity to hone their leadership skills and qualities whilst building their confidence in undertaking a research and technical project.

Announcing the Learner Research Placement Programme at our recent Celebration Event, Paul Cavanagh from Ocean Winds highlighted how the Learner Research Programme and STEM Leader 7 Award will provide a route for more young people from disadvantaged and diverse backgrounds to access placements across Scotland and gain the experience needed to inspire them to follow a STEM-based career.
