Fully-funded places available on blended-learning bee and pollinator course.
As part of our 60th anniversary celebrations, SSERC is proud to offer a unique professional learning opportunity for Scottish primary and secondary teachers (of any specialism) as well as school science technicians.
Devised and delivered in partnership with Newbattle Abbey College (NAC) the SSERC team are pleased to offer 12 fully-funded places on the ‘Bee Biology and Pollinator Behaviour' certificated course. A blended programme, the course is comprised of a series of online sessions followed by a visit to the beautiful and historic Newbattle Abbey College campus, where attendees will be able to engage in some practical science as well as examine and interact with the beehives located on campus.
The course will be delivered by a mixture of the SSERC and NAC team, as well she guest lecturers with relevant teaching and research experience in this area. As part for the visit day, attendees will be able to engage in a pollen identification activity facilitated by SSERC's Education Manager for Biology, Johnathan Doran.
The course is available to members of the public at a cost of £78 but 12 fully-funded places are available through SSERC and can be applied for via the following link:

Tuesday, 19th August – ‘Tools, Techniques and Challenges in Modern Beekeeping’
Saturday, 23rd August – Hands-on Apiculture Day, this will take place at Newbattle Abbey College, timings will be confirmed closer to the time.
