Anaphylaxis

Serious allergies leading to anaphylaxis are becoming more common.

The most common cause is nut exposure – especially peanuts – but a variety of factors can trigger attacks in sensitized individuals, bee stings, dairy produce, latex and many more.

Similar to asthma, the ‘victim’ should have an ‘epipen’ with them and know how to use it.

In case they are incapacitated, staff should be trained to use these if there is someone in the school who is susceptible to anaphylaxis.
