CopperEtchingEtching is an important process in printing and art. Most commonly, the copper plates are etched with quite concentrated nitric acid causing the release of toxic nitrogen dioxide.

This version uses zinc plates and they are etched by a simple displacement reaction with copper sulphate solution instead of corrosive nitric acid.
