STEM by the Book

SSERC is delighted to share our online resource STEM by the Book.

We have taken inspiration from a range of children’s books and linked them to SSERC practical activities – designed to support STEM and Literacy.

Each STEM activity is closely linked to the story and makes use of easy-to-access resources.

We have selected books and activities linked to CfE Early, First and Second Level Experiences and Outcomes – designed to support reading, listening and talking. With an emphasis on understanding, analysing, evaluating and investigating, the resource aims to engage learners with increasingly complex ideas and vocabulary.

The resources can be accessed from the links below. These can only be viewed by logged-in members.

If you do not currently have registration for the SSERC website, please register here.  All Local Authority educational settings in Scotland, as well as many independent settings, are members of SSERC.  Staff are eligible for free registration.  Once your registration has been approved by SSERC, you can log in using the padlock symbol.
