This online session explores practical approaches to helping learners make sense of expertise, assess claims critically, and respond thoughtfully to misinformation. It will focus on strategies you can use to support discussion, strengthen judgement, and build learners’ confidence in evaluating sources and evidence.

Using accessible examples and classroom-relevant contexts, we will consider how expertise is established, why the nature of expertise has evolved in recent decades, why misinformation can be persuasive, and how learners can be supported to ask better questions about credibility, authority, and proof.
