This course offers a full day of face-to-face professional learning at SSERC in Dunfermline - developed and presented in partnership with Learning through Landscapes. 
Aimed at Early Years Practitioners and primary teachers working with early/first level learners - the day will focus on outdoor learning and action on climate change through nature based solutions.
We will engage with a variety of practical activities and resources, all of which can be adapted to your outdoor spaces. The course is aimed at developing knowledge, skills and confidence. 
Course Content:
  • Explore a range of approaches for auditing and developing your existing outdoor space - with a focus on biodiversity and climate change
  • Engage with the newly developed Learning through Landscapes climate kit and pocket card resources
  • Experience activities designed to support learners and practitioners to take action in their outdoor spaces, through nature-based solutions
Learn more about:
  • Science enquiry skills
  • Key scientific vocabulary 
  • Health and safety for outdoor learning
  • Links to real life contexts - including biodiversity, plants and animals, weather and climate change.
You will receive a range of resources and supportive online materials to take back to your setting to share with learners and colleagues. 
Lunch and refreshments will be provided at SSERC on 18th March 2027.

As part of this course delegates will be asked to provide feedback on their use of selected activities in their own setting after the course has taken place.

The full day course costs £70 - this includes resources to take back to your setting, as well as lunch and refreshments on the training day. 

Delegates will attend a full day of professional learning at SSERC HQ in Dunfermline on Thursday 18th March 2027.
The course is co-designed and delivered in partnership with Learning through Landscapes. 
After the course delegates will take ideas back into their own setting and try them out with learners and colleagues.
Delegates will create a single PowerPoint (or similar) slide showing their chosen activities and reflections. The slide will be shared with SSERC by 31st May 2027.
Help and support will be provided by the course leaders. 
Presentations from all delegates will be collated into one presentation by SSERC. The full presentation will then be available to view by all delegates via a link.
