Unlock the power of the senses using the most common of classroom resources—the plastic bottle. In this highly practical SSERC meet, we will demonstrate how to transform "waste" into a suite of high-quality scientific tools.
Through the principles of upcycling and sustainability, participants will create:
The Looky Jar: A captivating tool for visual tracking and observation.
The Sniffy Bottle: An olfactory challenge to identifying scents.
The Feely Tub: A tactile mystery box to explore textures and shapes.
By investigating the senses of looking, listening, and touching, we will demonstrate how to embed core science inquiry skills into daily play. You will leave with a toolkit of sustainable resources and the confidence to help learners ask big questions, determine creative solutions, and make informed judgements about the world around them.

Audience
This SSERC Meet is designed for teachers working with learners at First and Second Levels. It is an introductory-level session, covering core aspects of Electricity, to increase confidence in teaching the basics of electrical circuits.
Rationale
This professional learning event is part of a range of STEM professional learning available from the Early Years and Primary Team at SSERC.
You and your colleagues will join us for a twilight session from your own setting as we guide you through the activities remotely online, which are designed to promote knowledge and understanding as well as providing great ideas for practical STEM. Help and advice can be sought during this live online event.
