Practical Electronics for national 5

This course is designed to support teachers teaching the SQA National 5 Practical Electronics course. The course will be extremely beneficial to those new to teaching practical electronics.

Over two days, we will have presentations and activities that will cover:

  • Analysis and design of the problem
  • Designing and simulating a solution
  • Logic gates
  • Op amps and comparators
  • Timers
  • Constructing the solution
  • Moving from circuit diagrams to stripboard layout
  • Soldering
  • Wiring
  • Testing the solution
  • Using multimeters, logic probes and CRO’s
  • Reporting on the solution

We will also have input from the SQA principal assessor and principal verifier to provide guidance on understanding standards, project work, assessment and verification.

This course is GTCS accredited, i.e., it is aligned to the GTCS Standards for Full Registration and the National Model for Professional Learning.
