Professional Learning

  SSERC offers a vast portfolio of professional learning (PL) programmes for STEM educators in Scotland. Our curricular based PL is offered to everyone: childminders, early years workers, primary and secondary staff as well as lecturers, technicians and those who work with young people in non-formal settings such as youth workers and in the CLD sector.

STEM Engagement

  SSERC offers a wide range of STEM engagement and enrichment programmes to further increase access to, and participation in STEM, well beyond the classroom setting. There are leadership opportunities for young people with the Young STEM Leader Programme as well as programmes to link educators in all sectors with industry partners and STEM Ambassadors to create enhanced STEM learning events for young people in Scotland.

Colegio Anglo Colombiano, Colombia

SSERC is delighted to welcome Colegio Anglo Colombiano based in Bogotá, as our newest International Member and the first school in Colombia to offer the Young STEM Leader Programme from the 2026/27 academic session.

Founded in 1956, the school is one of Colombia’s leading international schools, combining the strengths of British and Colombian educational traditions with a strong global outlook. It is an International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, offering the Primary Years, Middle Years and Diploma Programmes, and is recognised for its commitment to academic excellence, innovation, leadership and social responsibility.

With a thriving community of more than 1,800 learners, Colegio Anglo Colombiano places great emphasis on developing confident, compassionate and internationally minded young people who make a positive contribution to society.

The introduction of the Young STEM Leader Programme will provide exciting opportunities for learners to develop leadership, communication and STEM engagement skills while inspiring others within their school and wider community.

Lanzhou Country Garden School, China

We are delighted to welcome Lanzhou Country Garden School as an SSERC International Member.

Based in Lanzhou, Gansu Province, the school offers the Chinese National Curriculum alongside Cambridge IGCSE and A Level qualifications. We look forward to working with its teachers and learners to pilot the Young STEM Leader Programme across the primary and secondary stages.
