The Chemistry Summer School in 2023 will focus on microscale practical work to support CfE programmes in Chemistry from BGE through to Advanced Higher.
Numerous laboratory sessions will cover
- the construction of inexpensive, microscale equipment
- and the wide variety of practical work that can be done using a microscale approach: reactions in drops/puddles, microscale gases, microscale electrochemistry, micro-titrations and much more.
Practical work will be supported by further presentations to further support health & safety and the implementation of a microscale approach to chemistry. Combined with opportunities for professional networking, the Summer School offers participants a rich and vibrant programme that will enhance teaching and learning within their institutions.
Why Microscale?
While microscale chemistry is not fixed to any particular course or qualification, the adoption of at least some microscale chemistry in a school can allow more practical work to be carried out for the same amount of money (or less) in the same amount of time and often with better learning outcomes.
A draft programme will be available shortly.
Applying for this course using the online booking form is no longer possible as the closing date has passed. But if you are interested, please email us at enquiries@sserc.scot if you would still like to register your interest. There may still be places left.
