A day of practical hands-on experiential learning for you to take back to your settings to engage and motivated other staff members and learners alike.
The draft programme of activities and layout of the day are below. (This may be subject to change)
9.45am-10am Welcome and introductions
10am-11.15am Living in a Material World – get your hands on a range of materials. Explore the properties and uses of materials and take part in practical activities that will encourage leaners to test these out.
11.30am-12.30pm Paper Making – make a range of homemade papers from recycled materials and explore how this relates to other areas of the curriculum. Incorporate materials from the natural world and link to outdoor learning.
12.30pm-1.30pm It’s Alive! – explore living things outdoors and in. Learn about the organisms that live close by and how to encourage and care for them.
2pm-3pm Making Sense of STEM – take a closer look the senses with simple yet effective materials. Make, shake and take away a variety of homemade resources to share with learners in your setting.
3pm-4.30pm Ice, Ice, Baby – investigate states of matter and change of state. Try out a range of engaging activities that encourage science enquiry skills and scientific vocabulary.
4.30pm-4.45pm Evaluations and closing remarks
