SSERC’s Gregor Steele is the Radiation Protection Adviser for member schools. This is a legal requirement. This section has information on what you must do if you have sources or want to buy them. The record-keeping and checking is not onerous and it is gratifying that we have a steady stream of schools who wish to buy sources. If you would like to know more about this fascinating area of physics, why not go to the CLPL tab and, under health and safety, you will find courses that cover not only the legal aspects but also advice on carrying out common classroom experiments.

Important – if you want to buy a radioactive source, please contact SSERC first. We will guide you through the (relatively simple) process.
